Tokyo Olympics: Another player leaves the court in a wheelchair - heatstroke

Image
Paula Badosa, a Spanish player, had a difficult time with heatstroke . After quitting from her quarterfinal match against Marketa Vondrousova due to heatstroke, Badosa had to retire from a mixed doubles play with partner Pablo Carreno Busta later in the day. The first set was won 6-3 by Vondrousova, the Czech woman who had eliminated Naomi Osaka the day before. She is now in the semifinals and will play fourth-seeded Elina Svitolina of Ukraine in the medal rounds. In the other semifinal, Switzerland's Belinda Bencic will face Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina, who is ranked 15th. At the Tokyo Olympics on Wednesday, a Russian tennis player declared he could "dead" from the oppressive heat and humidity, while a Spanish player had to be wheeled off the court due to heatstroke. As the temperature reached 88 degrees, players battled, but the heat index made it feel like it was a scorching 99 degrees. Daniil Medvedev, who had two medical timeouts and one trainer visit, was havi...

The USA Team fails to advance in the 4x100 relay at the Tokyo Olympics.

Image
When Ronnie Baker o the USA Team attempted to take the baton for the first time, he ended up holding a handful of Fred Kerley's jersey Baker whiffed the second time and Kerley was side-by-side with Baker by the third try, nearly shoveling the stick into his teammate's palm with both hands. The names may change, but the American Olympic 4x100-meter relay team's results remain just as brutal for a USA Team. The Americans were wrecked in qualifying Thursday, finishing sixth and missing the final, extending a quarter-century of agony for the country that sends the deepest track team to the Olympics. Kerley, who ran the second leg, remarked, "We just didn't get the job done today, that's all." Outrage erupted swiftly, as it always does when anything like this occurs. The USA team did everything wrong in the men's relay. The passing system is incorrect, competitors are running on the wrong legs, and there is no discernible leadership. It was a huge humiliati...

Lionel Messi's New Contract With FC Barcelona Is Set To Be Announced

Image
Last summer, Lionel Messi finally got his desire, becoming a free agent on June 30, 2021. The difference this time is that, unlike when FC Barcelona was thrashed 8-2 in the Champions League by eventual champions Bayern Munich, the six-time Ballon d'Or winner wants to stay put and rejects offers from Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain. After finally delivering a big trophy for his country at Copa America, Messi has been enjoying the high life with his family in Florida and Ibiza, while president Joan Laporta and his crew work around the clock to finish his new deal. As previously stated, there is a "complete agreement" between the two parties which will see Messi committed to the cause for a further five years while taking a 50% pay cut. Messi did not go to training on Monday as planned, but sources tell ESPN that the 34-year-old has decided to wait until his new contract is ready before returning to coach Ronald Koeman's command. Furthermore, while the Blaugrana...
