37 year Old Modric Turns Madrid Legend
Luka Modric without a doubt is one of the best midfielders of our generation and even amongst all the greatest to have ever played the game. But at nearly 37 years old, Modric is doing something we’ve never really seen before from other all time greats like him.
He is no doubt a special kind of talent, and I personally would place him among the top 5 greatest midfielders of all time – and some of you might not agree, but regardless, a vast majority of people would have Modric at the very least, within the top 10 of all time. He’s in elite company alongside names like Zinedine Zidane, Xavi, Iniesta, Pirlo, Cruyff, and many more.
But let’s look at the main aspects that really sets Luka Modric apart from all those household names and show why he is truly different and is in a class of his own.
1. At 37 he is still in active play with first shirt start:
compared to others of his class Modric is phenomenal. At 35 Xavi left to Qatar to play, at 34 years old Iniesta left Barca to go play in Japan a league not among the first 5 best in the world. Same goes to others at this age range; but Modric had proven to be exceptional.
2. Modric has his teams and won more cups than others:
Although Zidane seams to also have achieved this fit, having led his French side to the finals of the 2010 world cup and being named the best player of the tournament plus winning other laurels at 33 years when he retired.
Modric on the other hand has won 5 champions league titles, LA liga cups and captain his side to the world cup finals; a thing only done by few in the football history.
Modric is still physical and light
on the pitch like other youngsters. His pace and dribbles makes him more preferred to others on that same position.
Modric indeed reshaped midfield and is be you and doubt a Real Madrid legend.
See you in the next post.
