 Cristiano Ronaldo believes that the Saudi Pro League will become one of the world's most important leagues. Karim Benzema has joined Saudi Arabia champions Al Ittihad on a three-year deal after leaving Real Madrid. The French forward announced his departure from the Spanish club last weekend, bringing a 14-year spell to an end during which he won LaLiga on four occasions and the Champions League five times. Al Ittihad are managed by former Wolves and Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo and finished five points ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr - who came second - last season.

  Fiorentina have strongly condemned what happened to their captain Cristiano Biraghi during the UEFA Europa Conference League final against West Ham. West Ham have also released a statement condemning fans who threw objects onto the pitch during Wednesday's final in Prague. The game was halted after a cup thrown left Fiorentina captain Cristiano Biragi bleeding from the head. Plastic pint glasses were hurled from the West Ham end throughout the first half at the Eden Arena in Prague. Referee Carlos del Cerro Grande eventually halted play after Fiorentina captain Biraghi was hit by another object as he went to take a corner just after the half-hour mark.
